Man trades paper clip for house

Kyle MacDonald
A Canadian man has got himself a house for a year after starting out with just a paperclip and lots of determination.

After a year of swapping things online, Kyle MacDonald, 26, has been offered the use of a house in Phoenix, Arizona, rent free for twelve months.

He swapped the paper clip for a pen shaped like a fish, and, after managing to bag a recording contract, eventually traded his way up to the house.

However, he's not stopping yet - he aims to net himself a house for keeps!

Odd swaps

His swaps have included a ceramic doorknob, a camping stove, a snow mobile and a white van.

He's become a bit of a star in his native Canada, with TV crews starting to film his swapping, and the publicity has helped him increase the value of his swaps.

But Kyle hasn't let fame cloud his vision: "I'm going to keep trading for bigger or better things until I get a house," he said.
