Snoring 'might run in families'

Sleeping man
If you snore, your parents might be to blame, as a team of US scientists have discovered the noisy sleeping habit could run in families.

Researchers at Cincinnati Children's Hospital found kids whose parents snore are three times as likely to do so too.

But experts in the UK said it was more likely to be due to families being overweight, as obesity is linked to half of all snoring.

The study also suggested there was a link between snoring and allergies.

The researchers said that although snoring could sometimes be seen as a joke, it was a very serious subject.

Studies of older kids and adults have linked snoring to problems with behaviour and heart disease.
