Doctor Who gets BAFTA nomination

Doctor Who with a monster
Doctor Who has been nominated for Best Drama series at this year's British Academy Television Awards.

The sci-fi series, which returned to TV screens last March, is up against three other dramas to win the prize.

Soap giants EastEnders and Coronation Street will fight it out against medical dramas Holby City and Casualty for the best continuing drama prize.

And talent shows Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor were also nominated in the best entertainment category.

All winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on Sunday 7 May.
