Fightstar up for best band award

Fightstar, the group fronted by former Busted star Charlie Simpson, has been nominated for Best British Band at the Kerrang rock awards.

The band is competing for the title with Muse as well as Lostprophets, Bullet For My Valentine, Hundred Reasons and Funeral For A Friend.

Devon-trio Muse are also up for Best Live Band, Single, Album, British Band and Video at the awards on 24 August.

The nominations were selected by 140,000 public votes.

Fall Out Boy and Welsh band Bullet For My Valentine each have four nominations.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers are nominated for Best Video for Dani California, alongside Green Day's Jesus of Suburbia.

The Best Band on the Planet nominees are My Chemical Romance, Trivium, Avenged Sevenfold, HIM, Lacuna Coil and Fall Out Boy.
