Police say £53m stolen in raid

Forensic officer searches house in Kent
Police have said the robbers who carried out Britain's biggest cash robbery got away with just over £53m.

The exact amount - £53,116,760 - was confirmed by Securitas staff after they checked exactly what was taken from the depot in Tonbridge, Kent.

Police are now investigating a number of places that they raided following the robbery from a Securitas depot.

The gang kidnapped the depot boss, his wife and son as part of the raid on Tuesday 21 February.

Police say they have now taken more than 1,000 phone calls from members of the public about the robbery, but want people to keep calling with more information if they have it.

On Friday a van was found that was used by the robbers, and police have said they found £1.3m inside, along with clothes used in the crime.

On Monday afternoon police said they had arrested five more people, and were still questioning four of them.

They have already arrested six people as part of their investigations, all of whom have been released.

A number of vehicles and lots of bundles of cash have been recovered by police.
