The American Music Awards

The American Music Awards compete with the Grammys as one of the biggest ceremonies recognising contemporary music.

They cover many categories including R&B, rock, Latin, pop, country, alternative and inspirational.

The winners are chosen based on their record sales, radio play and a survey of 20,000 music fans.

In previous years, Usher, Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson and Green Day have all been big winners.
