In total 60 schools near there have reported lots of pupils off sick with the Norovirus or by Influenza B.

A spokesperson for Birmingham council said many pupils were suffering from symptoms including stomach upsets, high temperatures and feeling tired.

Hundreds of pupils in Staffordshire, Shropshire and Solihull are also off.

But no schools have been closed there.

Experts say bugs like these are normal during the winter time.

Parents are being advised to make sure sick children get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids.

Pupils should be symptom-free for at least a day before going back to school.
