The Baden-Powell Challenge is the highest award a Guide can achieve.
Press Packer Vicky recently completed her Challenge and spent two nights on a Baden-Powell Adventure to celebrate her success.
In her report she tells us about the challenges, the adventure and the upcoming award ceremony.
"I have just done my Baden-Powell award, named after Lord
Baden-Powell who founded
the Guides. It's the best award you
can complete as a Guide.
Commitment
It took me a long time to complete my award because I had to spread the work out.
I started it in 2003 and then gradually increased the amount of challenges I was doing. Some people do it all in one chunk though!
Challenges
To do the award, you have to
do lots of challenges in different areas, such
as 'Celebrating Diversity'
or 'Fit and Healthy'.
One of my challenges was to
organise a Ready Steady Cook
for all the Guides in my pack.
They all made a three course meal,
and I was the judge.
I had
to eat a bit of every meal - I was
stuffed by the end of the
night!
Adventure
You
have to go on a Baden-Powell
Challenge adventure to complete the award.
Mine was at Foxlease, a big
house in Hampshire.
I stayed
for a couple of nights.
We had to do a treasure hunt and set up our very own summer fair.
The night before the summer fair we had a barbeque to celebrate our achievement. I had such a good
time.
Award ceremony
Now I have completed it, I am
just waiting for the
invitation to the award
presentation.
I would definitely recommend doing this
award, it's fantastic!"

It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
