Why I love playing roller hockey

Michael

Roller Hockey is a fast ball game played on either roller skates or blades between two teams.

Press Packer Michael plays for a London team and his report he tells why he enjoys the game.

"Roller hockey is a fast and furious game.

It's like ice hockey but it's played using inline skates.

It started out on the streets and the first league was formed 25 years ago.

Protective kit

Because we're on skates the game is really fast and that means it can hurt when you fall over.

So we wear lots of protective kit.

This includes shin pads, knee pads, trouser pads, body armour, elbow guards, gloves, neck guards and a helmet.

Practice skills

Each side has four players and a goalie.

I play for the London Street Warriors PeeWee team.

We practice once a week and before we play a match we warm up and do exercises to practice our skills.

I used to watch matches and because it's a fast and energetic game I wanted to play it myself.

If you like skating and you like your sport fast, give roller hockey a go!
