London will host the Olympic Games after winning a vote in Singapore.
Paris had led the race all the way, but London edged the favourites on the day to win enough votes.
So how are you feeling about the result?
Are you really pleased and excited?
Are you very disappointed?
Perhaps you are inspired to get training so you can take part.
Or do you think there are more important matters than who gets the Olympics?

I think it's GREAT! We are hosting the Olympics. I love watching it on television and it would be even greater to go and see it in London.

I think having the Olympics in London will be remembered for years on and never forgotten - this is going to be one of those unmissable events London rarely gets! Go London!
Nadine, 15, London
I am so happy about the capital getting the Olympics. It is a time to celebrate and wait to see the world famous event right here in London.
Jamie, 11, London
It's rubbish. £10,000,000,000 of taxpayers money wasted and London filled up and even more over-crowded. I'm really disappointed.
Ruth, 15, London
We think it is a brilliant idea that we are going to host the Olympics because we are mad about sport and we are excellent at sport.
Tanyel and Keri, 13, Hertford
I am upset because I have already signed some papers to say that I would've been able to help in Paris in 2012.
Susanna, 12, London
Yeah!! London deserve it and we might win more gold medals as our athletes are used to our climate! It's weird to think lots of us children will be grown up by then though!
Sarah, 15, West Mids
London is sooooo the right place to hold the Olympics. We have the room to build the arenas and we have some of the best athletes ever!!!
Georgia, 10, London
I think it is great as it will raise the economy but the people with houses which are going to be built over will lose their homes. Hopefully they can change the plans.
Caitlyn, 15, Tyne and Wear
It is awesome and I could be shooting there in London in 2012 if I get a lot better!
Lizzie, 11, Heathfield
Fantastic! It was so tense when it was between France and England, London deserved to win after all the effort they put into it - a job well done!
Bethany, 12, York
I was stuck in traffic whilst listening to the radio and we were all screaming out the window - I CAN'T WAIT!!! But I will be 22!!!

I am so glad we have got it - we stayed in at play time just to send this too. We jumped up and cheered each other.

London deserve to host the Olympics since they haven't hosted them since 1948.

I don't understand. I'm so sad. I'm French, so I was supporting Paris.
All the French are sad today because we were all in favour of Paris whereas in UK, you weren't as happy to have the Olympic Games as we were in France. I'm feeling so disappointed like all French are! NO WAY, I won't go to London to see the games even if I usually love this city. I hope that one day in my life I'll see the Olympic Games in Paris in honour of its fondator Pierre de Coubertin, a French. Paris deserved the games!
Laura, 15, France
I don't actually care in the slightest. I never watch the Olympic games so it's no great excitement for me.

We are very excited that London has won the Olympic games. Our assembly was about the Olympic bid: we always expected London to win because our capital city is brilliant. We will be 13 & 14 in 2012 and so we will remember it for the rest of our lives. Please say thank you to all the people who have tried their best to make London win. Thank you.

We are glad it is in our country. It will be remembered for a long time and we can be a part of it. Some excellent sports buildings will be built for the future. Our country will get more popular.
Some of us aren't happy because London might get too busy.
White Class at Jotmans Hall, 8-9, Benfleet
We're delighted to hear the amazing news and we're so happy and excited it is happening in our part of the city. We were very nervous at first. We hope in 2012 we could be watching and maybe even joining in the Olympic games. we can't wait until 2012!!!
4c class, Marion Richardson school, 8 and 9, East London
It's a wonderful result for the whole country. It was a nail biting and nerve wracking experience, waiting for the president of the IOC to announce the result. London 2012 is not a dream but a reality for many young children who aspire to become top athletes
Sam, 15, Colchester
Great I am so glad London got the Olympics!
Rachelle, 12, Hereford
Brilliant news!!! Let's just hope that all the new venues will be put to good use permanently, unlike the Millennium Dome!!!
