Ice hockey

Ice hockey

Ice hockey is one of the quickest and most physical sports around, and tends to be dominated by teams from North America, Scandinavia and Russia.

The basic rules are pretty simple. Score more goals than the other team by hitting the puck into the opposing team's net as often as possible.

Each team has six players on the ice at once - including the goalie - but can make as many substitutions as they want during the match.

The game is split into three blocks of 20 minutes, and can be really, really violent.

Players are allowed to use their bodyweight to knock an opponent off the puck, and sometimes go a bit too far...

How can I start playing?

If you want to get into ice hockey you'll need to track down your nearest local club.
