F1: Alonso wins French Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso of Spain steers his Renault during the French Formula One Grand Prix

Fernando Alonso won his fifth Formula One race this season with a convincing performance at the French Grand Prix.

The championship leader led the race all the way to the finishing line, and became the first Renault driver to win at home for 22 years.

McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen battled back from 13th on the grid to claim second place, and defending champion Michael Schumacher of Ferrari was third.

Briton Jenson Button came fourth and won his first points of the season.
