Worldwide orders of the new Harry Potter book have topped the one million mark, according to one online retailer.

JK Rowling's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince looks set to become the biggest-selling novel ever.

Online shop Amazon says it's had 200,000 orders in Britain, 500,000 in the US, and those from other countries.

Orders are set to top the 1.3 million received for the last Potter book.

Potter's latest adventures at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are going to be unveiled by JK Rowling at a special ceremony in Edinburgh Castle at midnight on the morning of July 16.

The Half-Blood Prince topped Amazon's book chart less than 24 hours after its release date was announced last December.
