Boy escapes after US shark attack

A teen has had a lucky escape after being bitten by a shark while swimming off the Florida coast.

Craig Hutto, 16, was fishing in the sea with friends when he was bitten on the thigh. His friends managed to fight the shark off and get him to shore.

He was taken to hospital, where doctors had to amputate his leg. He is now making a good recovery.

This is the second shark attack in the area in three days, but it's still very rare for sharks to attack humans.

In the first attack, 14-year-old Jaime Marie Daigle died from her injuries after a bull shark bit her leg.

Beaches in the area were shut for the rest of the day by authorities as a safety measure.
