Storms end heatwave across the UK

People wait for the rain to stop at Wimbledon
Rain, thunder and lightning have struck the UK, putting an end to the incredible weather we've been having.

The storms are so strong that thousands of houses in the Midlands and south England have had power cuts, and there's even a tornado in Coventry.

The rain delayed the start of Glastonbury and stopped play at Wimbledon on Friday.

BBC Weathermen said the rain and storms were expected to carry on over the weekend in many areas.

"Both Wimbledon and Glastonbury should be mostly dry on Saturday although you can't rule out the odd passing shower and some drizzle," said BBC Weather forecaster Dan Corbett.
