More than 100 countries are taking part in special events across the world on Sunday to mark World Environment Day.
The day looks at ways people can improve their surroundings, and will be promoted by rallies, tree-plantings and clean-ups across the globe.
Representatives from 50 cities around the world will also meet in the San Francisco to discuss how to make cities greener places to live in.
The UN reckon that 60% of people will live in cities by 2030.
One way to make cities greener is to cut back on the amount of petrol powered cars on the roads.
Cars produce lots of carbon dioxide, a gas that is really bad for the environment, so in San Francisco experts have been looking into other ways of getting around.
Everyone can help
But environmental campaigners also point out that we all need to be more positive about what we can do to help.
They say if everyone turned off the tap when brushing their teeth it would save enough water to fill 630 Olympic sized swimming pools a day.
