Most young people would be happy to give up their time to do voluntary work for charities, despite their image as lazy time-wasters, a report's shown.
Teenagers have a bad reputation among some adults, but research has revealed more than a third had volunteered for a charity in the last year.
And most of the kids asked said they'd be happy to give up their free time if they were asked to volunteer.
Many thought the government should do more to get them involved in charities.
Some teenagers even suggested voluntary work should be made part of the national curriculum - and they would be happy to take part if this was the case.
A spokeswoman for Oxfam, which did the research, said: "Teenagers have a bad image at the moment - they are pigeonholed as materialist, yobbish and celebrity-obsessed.
Suffering
"However, our survey points to a backlash against this.
"Many young people want do something to help those suffering from poverty or social injustice, and the idea of it being included in the school timetable is a positive suggestion."
