Author Cat Weatherill, who wrote the children's bestseller Barkbelly, visited to Hay-on-Wye County School where she gave a workshop on writing and how to come up with ideas for stories.
Ten-year-old Maddie took part in the workshop and in her report she tells us what she enjoyed about it.
"It was very exciting to have author Cat Weatherill visit our school.
Our class did a workshop with her which was really fun.
First of all she talked to us about how to start off writing and what to do if you get stuck when you're writing a piece.
She said when this happens it's best to stop and think about what you're trying to say.
Button game
We also played a game where we were split into pairs.
One person had to imagine they were holding a button and the other person had to ask questions about it - what colour was it?, how big was it? - things like that.
Cat Weatherill then talked about her new book called Barkbelly.
It sounded like a really interesting book so I decided to read it myself.
Future author
It's a great book, one that you can't put down when you start reading it.
I definitely enjoyed the workshop with Cat Weatherill.
I learnt loads and because I love writing, I'm hoping to be an author myself when I'm older."

Why don't you write us a Press Pack report - and get it published on the site?!
It can be about anything that's happened in your local area - or your views on the news.
