Billie 'to leave Who series two'

Billie Piper as Rose Tyler in the sci-fi
Billie Piper may not appear in every episode of the second series of the new Doctor Who, according to reports.

The science fiction magazine Dreamwatch reports the actress, who plays the Doctor's assistant Rose Tyler, will leave after a couple of episodes.

A spokeswoman for the BBC confirmed that Billie will definitely star in the second series, but said plot details have not yet been finalised.

"It has not been confirmed how many episodes she will be in," she added.

"We are waiting to see the storylines and scripts."

Christopher Eccleston, who plays the Doctor in the show, announced he was quitting the role shortly after the current series launched.

David Tennant has signed up to star as the new timelord.
