Hoodies part of school's uniform

Coombeshead College pupils in their hoodies
Hooded tops have been given a hard time recently, but one school proudly has them as part of its uniform.

Coombeshead College in Devon has had hoodies as part of its schoolwear for two years, with up to 15% of pupils choosing to wear one.

Hoodies have just been banned from a Kent shopping centre as part of a crackdown on bad behaviour.

But Coombeshead headteacher Richard Haigh said: "It's the behaviour that's the problem, not the clothing."

He added: "If you know how young people's minds work, the best way of encouraging them to do something is to ban it.

"The more fuss we make about hoodies and baseball caps, the more a certain type of young person will want to wear them."
