EastEnders and Dr Who top Xmas TV

More people watched EastEnders on Christmas Day than any other TV programme, viewing figures show.

The BBC1 soap, which saw Shane Richie's character Alfie Moon getting ready to leave the show, was seen by around 10.1 million people.

David Tennant's first appearance as Doctor Who in The Christmas Invasion was second, with 9.4m viewers.

Coronation Street was third, the Two Ronnies' Christmas Sketchbook was fourth and Shrek was fifth.

Other top-rated shows were Emmerdale, Toy Story 2, Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, The Queen's Speech and BBC News.

The BBC had the most programmes in the top 10 with seven mentions.

Last year, it had just five.
