Almost half the children who are in custody have trouble reading, and more than half of them have been excluded from school.

So education is a big thing in secure units, and kids spend a lot of their time in lessons, and with key workers, who help them through their stay.

Kids are also taught to think about what they have done, and sometimes talk about the effects of the crimes they have done.
