Dan says he and Rupert are mates

Dan Radcliffe has taken the rare step of responding to a weekend of speculation on fan sites about how well he gets on with Rupert Grint.

Fans seem to have got the impression from an interview that the two don't get on very well, but Dan says this isn't true.

The interview was published over the weekend in an online magazine called The Weekly Reader.

On Monday, Dan said he was shocked his comments had been misunderstood.

The Harry Potter actor explained that although he doesn't usually make comments on website postings, he wanted to set the record straight.

Dan said: "It has shocked me that the words "I don't spend much time with Rupert" has been interpreted in so many grossly inaccurate ways.

"FACT: I like Rupert, I get on with Rupert, we are friends and when we are on set together we have a good laugh."

Studying is important

Dan went on to explain he doesn't spend much time with Rupert off set because there are lots of scenes they're not in together, and whenever they're not filming they are studying hard.
