Real Potter 'peril' clock coming

A clock very similar to the magical one in the Weasley family kitchen in the Harry Potter books could be a reality.

Computer company Microsoft has come up with a device they're calling the Whereabouts Clock, which could show where family members are.

The clock works by tracking mobile phones, so could show if children were school or on their way home.

So far there is no news if the special clock will have a settings for hospital, prison or mortal peril.

Microsoft researchers have been showing off some of their latest ideas in Belgium, and inventor Abigail Sellen is behind this one.

She said: "We noticed in our studies of family life that it was important to know - when you come home from work for example - are my kids still at school, have they left school yet, has my husband left work yet, shall I get the dinner on? This kind of thing.

"Actually knowing where your family is very important to family life."

At the moment it's more of an idea than something you can buy now, but a real version could be with us in a couple of years.
