Kids 'snub messy outdoor games'

Mud
Kids are snubbing outdoor games because they don't want to get their clothes dirty, a survey has found.

Around a third of the children said they avoided playing outside to keep their clothes and trainers sparkling.

Nearly three quarters of them said they ducked out of messy games because they didn't want to get told off by parents.

The survey revealed that watching TV and playing video games were much more popular than mucking around in the garden, playing a sport or cycling.

Experts are concerned that the trend will lead to a generation "who have learnt about life through a TV screen rather than experiencing it".

A total of 1,275 kids and parents were quizzed in the survey.
