Star Wars

Anakin Skywalker
Amazingly, when people first heard of Lucas' idea of a story set in space they didn't think anyone would want to see it.

But he was determined to make his film, and when it came out in 1977 it was a massive success.

Some people even think the word "blockbuster" only started to be used after Star Wars was released.

People wanted to see the film so much that they queued for a number of city blocks in the US, which is where blockbuster may have come from.
