New Pope rivals Potter book sales

Harry Potter has found a rival in the new Pope in the book sales charts in Benedict XVI's native Germany.

Pre-orders for the upcoming Half Blood Prince were at the top of an online bookstore's chart - until the new Pope was announced earlier this week.

Now the top 10 is peppered with the writings of Benedict XVI, whose birth name is Joseph Ratzinger, and Potter has dropped to number four.

Benedict XVI is the first German get the job as Pope for over 1,000 years.

The sixth Potter book is being published in July. Many people across the world have already ordered their copy.

Regular bookstores in Germany also reported that the new Pope's writings were doing well.

"People are wanting to find out about the man," said one sales assistant.
