Problems for US Xbox 360 launch

A shortage of consoles and problems with ones that have been sold have hit the launch of the Xbox 360 in the US.

Many shops in the US sold out of the machines they did have, leaving some people without one even after spending hours queuing.

And some of the people who did manage to get their hands on them found they didn't work as well as they'd hoped.

Websites used by Xbox gamers were saying there were problems with some of the new machines crashing.

A spokeswoman for Microsoft said they weren't getting that many calls about problems, and added that there had expected some problems.

"With any launch of this magnitude, you're bound to see something happening," she said.
