Doctor Who heads Xmas TV line-up

Rose and Dr Who, Billie Piper and David Tennant.
Television Time Lord Doctor Who is returning to the BBC this Christmas for a one-off special.

Comedy duo French and Saunders and the old classic show The Two Ronnies will also be making appearances.

And films such Toy Story 2, Chicago, Spy Kids 1 and 2 and Catch Me If You Can will be on offer for festive viewing from the sofa.

The BBC highlights were revealed when the broadcaster published its Christmas TV schedule - 34 days before Xmas!

Other BBC Christmas specials include Strictly Come Dancing, Songs Of Praise, and Green Green Grass.

David Tennant will appear as the new Doctor for the first time on Christmas Day in a one-off special called The Christmas Invasion.

The Time Lord finds himself under attack from a band of rogue Santas.

French and Saunders will make their way to EastEnders' Albert Square as part of their comedy show.

Jana Bennett, BBC director of television, said that Christmas was one of the biggest times for people to watch TV together.

"With this in mind, we have put together a line-up that we believe everyone can enjoy together."
