Police are investigating the deaths of nearly 30 porpoises found on beaches in Yorkshire.

Wildlife crime officer Sgt Chris Hine said he was worried the animals were killed by humans. Some of them had head injuries, and at least one was shot.

It's illegal to treat porpoises badly, and the people doing it could get sent to jail for six months.

Anyone with any information about the attacks should call Bridlington Police Station on 01262 402713.

The most recent find was in the Barmston , East Yorkshire.

The police have been talking to local fishermen about the deaths, but don't think they are involved.
