I hope the riots in France stop

There has been rioting in France for nearly two weeks now.

The trouble started in Paris, however it has spread to lots of other towns and cities across the country.

Press Packer Hélie lives in Rennes, in northwest France, and his city has been affected by the riots.

Hélie and his friends are talking about the violence at school and their teachers are helping them to understand what's happening.

"Where I live, in Rennes, cars have been set on fire and there's also been some violence.

Losing schools

I feel sad when I watch the news about all the violence in my country.

It's really upsetting for people in Paris, particularly for people who go to schools that have been burnt, or who have little brothers or sisters who have lost their schools.

Some of the violence has been horrible. Lots of buildings have been set on fire and people have lost their jobs.

Trying to understand

I'm not frightened because it's not so bad where I am, but there are some people who are frightened.

We've been talking with our teachers about the violence in our Citizenship classes. They've been explaining what's going on.

All of my friends are talking about it a lot too.

I'm against the violence, but different friends have different views about it.

Violence needs to end

I've got friends who live in Paris, but luckily they're not there at the moment.

I hope everything goes back to normal, that's what everyone hopes.

Enough has happened now, people are getting hurt. We've only got one life, we've got to look after it."
