Champions League: United lose 1-0

Ruud Van Nistelrooy of Manchester United leaves the pitch dejected
Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Lille has left their Champions League hopes in the balance.

Lille's Milenko Acimovic scored after 37 minutes, but the closest United came was a second-half header from Cristiano Ronaldo that hit the bar.

The result leaves United third in Group D, and manager Sir Alex Ferguson is now under pressure after several poor performances at home and abroad.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are through to the knock-out stages of the competition.

Thierry Henry celebrates his goal
They beat Sparta Prague 3-0 at Highbury on Wednesday, which means they have qualified for the last 16.

Thierry Henry opened the scoring with a sensational curling shot midway through the first half.

Robin van Persie then added two more in the final 10 minutes of the game.
