Red panda on the run from reserve

Red panda
It seems Babu the red panda cannot control his curiosity - he keeps escaping from his home at a nature reserve to explore the neighbourhood.

Babu has gone on the run from Birmingham Nature Reserve for the second time in a week and keepers are asking local people to help find him.

They discovered that he had disappeared on Sunday. He lives with his brother, who is missing him very much.

Keepers say the pandas are chilled-out creatures, but they're quite nosey.

Red pandas
They spend most of the day sleeping
They are about 50-63cm tall and weigh between 4-6kg
Cubs must eat for about 13 hours a day
They live for about 12 to 14 years

Babu arrived at the reserve from Bristol Zoo in March.

Until recently, he had not shown any signs of wanting to break out.

A reserve spokesman said: "If found or spotted, do not approach but call us immediately on 0121 454 7810 so we can get the little chap safely home to his brother."
