Newsround receives hundreds of e-mails every week. Check below to see if your query is answered here before you contact us. Please note: we can only answer queries about Newsround.
How can I audition for Harry Potter?
We receive many requests about audition dates, mainly for the Harry Potter films. Please note that due to volume of e-mails we receive on this subject we cannot reply to individual queries. Some news about public auditions for Harry Potter, and some other films or stage shows, will be reported on the Newsround website.
I'm looking for a particular story but it's not on the front page.
Have you tried using the search box? It's at the top of every page. This gives you access to our entire archive of stories dating back to 2001.
Can I use your pictures on my website?
Sorry, no. Due to copyright reasons you cannot take pictures from this website for publication elsewhere without prior permission.
I can't get your games to work!
CBBC has a useful page of tips on downloading the software you need to run our games.
Why can I still see pages from your old site?
The Newsround site relaunched in November 2004 with a brand new look. However, there are still thousands of pages in our archive in the old look. It simply isn't possible to convert all of the old pages, but we will continue to convert parts of the site, such as the Guides, which get lots of visitors.
How do I become a journalist?
Our presenters give their top tips for getting into journalism in the Team section.
Can I do work experience with Newsround?
Unfortunately Newsround does not offer any general work experience placements. Due to child protection and health and safety laws you have to be over 18 to apply to do work experience in CBBC. However, if you are over 18 the BBC does offer a range of work experience opportunities including some in News and CBBC.
How can I be Press Packer on Newsround?
The main way that young people get to present a story on Newsround is by sending in a story idea, and then if we think it's suitable we might contact you to present a Press Pack report for us.
We read every single idea that people send in, and while there is no guarantee that your idea will be chosen, if it's a good idea then you have a good chance.
There are several pages on our website that you can use to send ideas in:
The best page is this one - which tells you how to send your Press Pack ideas in -
If your story is not chosen, you could also choose to write a Press Pack report about your story which has quite a good chance of being published on the website. We publish one report every day from children.
To write a Press Pack report for the website, you need to go to this page -

What age group is Newsround aimed at?
Newsround has a target audience of 6-12 year olds. As a team we carefully consider the language and subject matter to make things suitable for children. We try to pick stories that would appeal to our viewers and to bring a child's view into the report and also indicate quickly on what level children are reacting with what is happening. Our team consists of a mix of child experts, journalists and teachers.
Why hasn't my comment been used on the site/read out on the show?
Every day at Newsround we get literally hundreds, and sometimes, thousands of emails come into us. And when we read out comments on the TV show, we only ever choose 5-6 out of hundreds. So while we look at every comment, and many, many more are published on the website every day on this section -
- we can only read out a tiny fraction of the ones that are sent in, and cannot publish every single one we receive on the website. But do keep on sending your comments in as the chances are, one day, yours will be picked.
I sent a picture in to the Newsround website and it hasn't been used anywhere, why not?
We are sorry that you have sent pictures into the Newsround site and they have not been chosen to appear on our galleries. We do get lots of pictures emailed in from children and I'm afraid we can't always publish every single picture that we get. But please do keep sending in your pictures and one of them will be used at some point.
