Nelson's message
|
Bells tolled on British warships around the world on Friday to remember the 200th anniversary of Admiral Nelson's victory at the Battle Of Trafalgar.
On 21 October 1805, the British forces under Nelson's command outwitted French and Spanish forces to win the battle. Nelson died soon after it ended.
The victory put an end to the threat of Napoleon's armies invading Britain.
More than 6,000 events are taking place this weekend to mark the anniversary, including a banquet with the Queen.
This is happening in the Great Cabin of Nelson's ship HMS Victory in Portsmouth.
The spot where Nelson fell

Earlier, flags had been raised on the ship spelling out the message that Nelson sent to his troops before the battle.
It said: "England expects that every man will do his duty".
A wreath was laid at the spot where Nelson fell, fatally wounded.
Spanish memorial service
In Spain, people related to the 7,000 people who died in the battle attended a memorial service.
And a wreath was being laid off the coast of Spain where the battle actually took place.
