A girl has been banned from school for wearing her hair in braids because the style is considered "too extreme".
But should how you wear your hair be part of your school uniform rules?
Have you or anyone at your school ever been in trouble for their hairstyle?
Or do you think schools need to draw the line somewhere when it comes to your hair - and bold colours or cuts should be a no go.
Whatever you think, e-mail and let us know.

What is so big about hair styles? I have red hair, that means I'm never going to do my work and be rude to everyone - is that what teachers think?

I agree that schools are too strict about hair. What's so dangerous about having coloured hair, as it doesn't hurt anyone. Conrows shouldn't be banned either, as they keep hair out of the way.

I think that rule is not really acceptable. Your hairstyle doesn't put you or other people at risk of anything so she should be allowed to wear her own hairstyle!

The way you do your hair is included in your school's uniform code. Some schools are tighter on uniform than others. I don't agree with it, but I know I'd be sent home if my hair was braided.

It's unfair that she should be excluded. The same kind of thing happened at our school but in the end they let the girl keep them. It's slightly unfair as we have a teacher that has bright pink hair.

The way people wear their hair is a reflection on them. I mean it's like freedom of speech. People could have worse than braided hair, it's just the schools being arrogant. In my old primary school the students made the school rules, this should happen in all schools.

I don't think that any school should ban types of hairstyles because it is only a hairstyle. The school would be too extreme if this was the case.

I can't believe how pathetic some people can get? She shouldn't have been kicked out of school for it. That's as bad as being racist. I don't know the correct word for it, but it's just pathetic how schools feel they can tell people how to look. The systems so stupid.
Tom, 15, Oxford
This is stupid, at my school we can wear our hair in braids if we want. She was not offending anyone by wearing the braids, and being excluded is going to the total extreme.
Jasmine, 14, Bradford
I think that's its stupid by schools saying no braiding - they can't stop you from having them.
Charlotte, 15, Sussex
What's so extreme about braids? I can understand if her hair was bright pink but it's not. I think the school is being too extreme.
