Coronation Street named top soap

Coronation Street bagged the top soap prize at the Royal Television Society Awards, beating rivals EastEnders.

Channel 5 show No Girls Allowed won best kids' show, while Tracy Beaker's Movie of Me took best children's drama.

Ant and Dec were also winners, taking the best entertainment performance.

Dec joked afterwards: "It's not surprising that we beat Jonathan Ross. He needs a haircut and he needs to get himself a decent suit," he added.

But their Saturday Night Takeaway lost out to Strictly Come Dancing in the best entertainment award.
