How much will Half Blood Prince set you back?

Newsround's website has done some digging to find how many galleons, sickles and knuts you could be paying for your copy from some of the main UK book sellers.

The prices below are for pre-orders only. Most shops have yet to decide how much the Half-Blood Prince will cost on the day of release.

In shops

The children's cover for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Blackwells
Pre-order price: £12

All pre-orders and anyone buying the book until the end of July will get a voucher for 10% off an single entire purchase - as many books as they want - that must be used before the end of August.

Most Blackwell's shops with a children's department will be open at midnight to sell the book.

Quizzes will be held in shops for the month before release with winners getting free copies when the Half-Blood Prince is released.

Borders and Books Etc
Pre-order price: £11.99

Borders are offering a reserve copy for £1 deposit. All the shops will be open late and will be selling the book from 12.01am on Saturday July 16th.

KwikSave
Price on 16 July: £4.99

The supermarket will open at 8.30am on 16 July, and until 10am the book will be on sale to those aged 15 and under for £4.99. Adults who have children with them will also be able to buy the book for their children at that price.

After 10am any customer, whatever their age, will be able to buy the book for £4.99 until all the books are gone.

Ottakars
Pre-order price: £10.99

Customers who pre-order will also get a free copy of another book, Bringing Up Baby Dragons, by the people behind Dragonology and will be entered in a free draw to win a signed JK Rowling bookplate.

Ottakars expect most of their shops to open at midnight.

Sainsbury's
Price on 16 July: £8.96

Some stores will remain open until midnight on Friday to sell the Half-Blood Prince.

WH Smiths
Pre-order price: £9.99

Around 300-400 shops will open at midnight, more than twice as many as for the Goblet of Fire.

Along with the pre-ordered book Potter fans will get a £75 voucher to when they buy other stuff from the shop. And they'll be able to but the Magical World of Harry Potter for £1.99 instead of £5.99.

Anyone called Harry Potter can have a free copy if they take photo ID and their birth certificate to one of the shops on either 16 or 17 July.

Woolworths
Pre-order price: £8.99

Details about midnight openings of shops have yet to be announced.

Waterstones
Pre-order price: To be confirmed

Customers who reserve a copy of the book now get a voucher book giving them £50 off selected books from now until the end of July. Anyone who buys the book on the day of release will get a free copy of Lionboy by Zizou Corder. On the launch night 140 Waterstones shops will opening at midnight.

Online

Pre-order price: £8.99 (£2.75 postage and packing will take the cost to £11.74) All orders must be made before midnight on 13 July to ensure delivery on 16 July.

Blackwells
Pre-order price: £12.99

People who buy the book will get a £5 voucher off their next online purchase. Orders placed after 12 July are unlikely to be delivered on 16 July.

Borders, Books Etc and Waterstones all work through Amazon
Pre-order price £8.99 (£2.75 postage and packing will take the cost to £12.74) All orders must be made before midnight on 13 July to ensure delivery on 16 July.

Tesco
Pre-order price: £8.96 (£2.74 postage and packing takes the cost to £11.70) Orders taken by 13 July should reach customers by 16 July, orders after this day will not.

Sainsburys
Pre-order price: £8.96 (£3.50 postage and packing takes total cost to £13.49). All orders must be made before midday on 13 July to ensure delivery on 16 July.

WH Smiths
Pre-order price: £9.85 (£2.49 postage and packing takes the total cost to £12.34)
