Doctor Who dinner raises 20,000

Billie Piper and David Tennant
Doctor Who stars David Tennant and Billie Piper have helped raise a whopping 20,000 for a kids' charity.

The actors attended a Children In Need fundraiser in Cardiff which was billed as a "Doctor Who Galactic Dinner".

The show's writer Russell T Davies was also there and took charge of an auction of Doctor Who memorabilia, which attracted bids of up to 4,000.

The cash will go towards improving the lives of young people. This year, the charity will give out 35m in aid.

More than 250 people went to the galactic dinner.

Billie, who plays the Doctor's assistant Rose, said: "Everyone had an amazing night."
