How can I start climbing?

Indoor climbing
There are loads of climbing walls around the country and most of them run courses for all ages.

To find a wall near you, click on the web link on the right-hand side.

Most centres run taster sessions with an instructor. These are usually in groups of five and cost approx 8.00.

It depends how quickly you pick it up but you will normally need two or three sessions before you can attempt a climb without an instructor.

Most walls charge between 3 and 6 to climb for an unlimited amount of time, and most centres run kids' groups on Saturday mornings for an hour or two hours, which cost between 10-15 on average.

If you are interested in outdoor climbing speak to your local indoor centre for advice.
