JK Rowling scoops big book prize

JK Rowling with the sixth Potter book
JK Rowling has won two prizes at a new book award ceremony, for Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince.

The author scooped book of the year and best children's book for her latest novel at the first Quill Book Awards, but didn't attend the ceremony.

The new awards were given out in New York and cover 19 different categories, including children's fiction, romance, sport and books by new writers.

The public voted for the winners from a list compiled by 6,000 book experts.

The books had to have appeared on a best-sellers list to be nominated for a Quills prize.
