Sportsround presenter Jake

Sportsround presenter Jake Humphrey
What is your favourite sport?
I used to cycle and snowboard to club level as a young lad and still do both. These days I am also mad on football, I love just going to different stadiums to watch games even if I don't support the team!!!! I am also a really keen Norwich fan and try to get to as many home games as possible!

Who is your sporting hero?
I have 2! Bear Grylls (read his book!) who was at the time the youngest Brit to climb Everest, and Lance Armstrong (read his book too!). He is so brave, such a talent and has done so much to help the fight against cancer - a total hero!

Which is your favourite sports team?
See above!

What is the best sporting event you've been to?
I went to the Millennium Stadium to watch Norwich in the First Division play-off final in 2002. It went to extra-time and then penalties but we lost!! It was exciting, emotional and also totally heartbreaking!

Can you remember where you were when Jonny Wilkinson kicked the winning drop goal in the Rugby World Cup final in 2003?
Oh yes! Sitting on my lucky cushion at my parents' house in Norwich. My girlfriend's Dad had to go out to the garden as he couldn't bear to watch it and he missed the kick!!! What a sporting moment!

Which sport did you enjoy playing most at school?
I was a top-level goalie at school and loved it. Being 6'4" I would make good keeper now if any pro-team wants to take chance on me!!!!

And which sport were you really bad at?
Chess, bowls and... curling?!?!

What hobbies do you have?
Going to the gym, reading autobiographies, supporting Norwich City, travelling and... presenting Sportsround!

What is your favourite film (sporting or otherwise)?
The film of Ewan McGregor and his mate Charlie travelling the world on motorbikes, called Long Way Round.

Why did you become a journalist/presenter and how did you get here?
I started out as a runner in TV when I left school and eventually became a researcher on various shows and never intended to become a presenter! Someone said I should give it a go. I enjoyed it, and then joined CBBC about four years ago. I got involved in Sportsround because of my passion for sport, I really want to prove I have what it takes to be the next Gary Lineker or Des Lynam!

Who is the best/most famous person you've interviewed?
Singer David Bowie in Los Angeles, very showbiz and I was totally starstruck!! I look forward to meeting the stars of sport during my time with Sportsround!
