Boxing movie wins big at Oscars

Boxing film Million Dollar Baby beat The Aviator to all the top prizes at the Oscars on Sunday.

It won best film and best director, while its stars Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman also won best actress and best supporting actor.

Although The Aviator missed out on the big prizes, it did manage to win five Oscars in total.

Superhero film The Incredibles won best animated film, and Spiderman 2 won the best visual effects Oscar.

Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events also picked up an award, winning the prize for best make-up.

But Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban didn't win anything, despite being nominated for best original score and best visual effects.

The Oscars - the biggest event in films - took place in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

Some of the biggest names in film turned up to the star-studded bash, including Orlando Bloom, Drew Barrymore, Halle Berry, Scarlett Johansson and Kate Winslet.

But although plenty of Brits got nominations - 24 in total - only two won Oscars in the end.

A spokesman for the UK Film Council described the results as "disappointing".
