Why I raise money for charity

Press Packer Laura

Press Packer Laura has tried out lots of unusual ways of raising money.

In her report she tells us about all the quirky things she and her friends have done to support their favourite charities.

"When I found out my little brother was diabetic I decided I wanted to raise money for a diabetes charity.

PJs in the park

I enlisted the help of my friends and I came up with the idea of walking around our local park in pyjamas!

We decided to call it sleepwalking.

We raised 330 in sponsorship money and set off one Saturday with a huge banner and buckets.

We walked four miles around the park in our pyjamas and slippers.

We raised another 150 pounds from people putting loose change in our buckets.

Fundraising frenzy

We raised lots of money for charity and also had great fun as well.

After that, there was no stopping us.

We got involved in charity work in school.

Lots of ideas

We helped with the school dance-a-thon which involved teachers dressing up and competing against pupils on dance mats.

We also did a sponsored silence for Children in Need and we set up a milkshake and cake bar at our local youth club for Red Nose Day.

It was great fun.

Charity work is well worth the effort!"
