EastEnders has beaten Coronation Street to win Best Soap at the Inside Soap awards for the ninth year in a row.

Even though Corrie has been pulling in more viewers its BBC rival took the top award in London on Monday night.

EastEnders won seven awards to the Street's six, including Nigel Harman's two prizes and Best Storyline for the death (again) of Dirty Den Watts.

Charley Webb who plays Debbie Dingle in Emmerdale was named Best Young Actor, beating the Street's Sam Aston.

The editor of the magazine said: "It's been a hard fought year but I'm delighted that the big three soaps have each come away with some fabulous awards."

Street actors Sally Lindsay and Bill Ward each won an award after their recent storyline that almost saw them married.

Sally was named Best Actress while Bill took the Best Bad Boy prize.
