Brownies are usually aged between seven and ten. They belong to a group called a pack and they work together in smaller groups called sixes.

Brownies earn Adventure badges for taking part in activities, which they can sew onto their uniform or keep in their promise box.

Some examples of Brownie badges are:

  • Holiday badge
  • Circus performer badge
  • Crime prevention badge
  • First Aid badge
  • Friend to animals badge
  • Stargazer badge

A girl who joins Brownies makes a promise:

I promise that I will do my best:
    To love my God,
To serve the Queen and my country,
    To help other people
To keep the Brownie Guide Law.

Below is the Brownie Guide Law:

A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.
Brownies have a motto, which is a special saying which means something they would like to try to do. It is "Lend a hand."
