What do you think technology will be like by 2020?

A robot
A new survey reckons kids believe the future will be transformed by technology.

Many of you imagine jet packs and hoverboards will be used as transport, while robots could replace teachers in the classroom.

You also believe classes could include lessons in robot building, alien languages and celebrities.

So what do YOU think technology will be like by 2020?

Will robots take care of your homework?

Or will you get to school in mini-airplanes? What about making Sunday dinner at the touch of button?

E-mail and let us know.

I think we should have stuff like voice activated lights, electric pens and holograms, but we probably won't by 2020 because it's only 15 years away. There might be some new species of animals, and some will probably have been extinct like the Tapir or the African Elephant.
Maddie, 12, Salisbury

Everything will change. Everything will be loads more hi-tech and life will be so much easier!
Haleema, 15, Bradford

Technology will go through the roof by 2020. Just look at the rate it's increasing now!
Julia, 15, Sheffield

I would love robots as helpers by 2020. It could help me with my homework because I get a lot of it at my school.
Romessa, 11, Lombard

Well, not much may change but I think there will be flying cars by 2050.
Jordan, 9, Cardiff

I think technology will have such an influence on people that many more will become overweight from lazing in front of the TV for too long!
Marissa, 12, Henley

In 2020, they could be able to visit Pluto in a day.
Mia, 10, Southport

I don't think much will change, but I'll expect better technology. I won't be expecting flying cars! Nope - definitely not!
Aparna, 14, London

I think that instead of food, we will get powder in a packet and put it in a special machine, push the button and you will get whatever it says on the packet. Cool
Maria, 12

It's like what Doctor Who said in the last series - that humans will travel round space and meet aliens and stuff. Maybe people will be living on Mars by then.
Alice, 12, Cambridge

2020 isnt that far away so I think that nothing much will change in technology but improvments will be made.
Hetty, 13, Telford

I think things will be 100 times nore hi tech!
Daniel, 10, Kidderminster

I think that in 2020 that life will be very different from how we live now. I think more things that are interesting like electricity will be made and the world will be completely different.
Sharmys, 10, Harrow

Everyone always thinks about the future with robots doing human things and people doing time and space travel but I think that before people go out exploring other worlds we should fully explore our own first.
Eleanor, 12, Tokyo

I think it will mean more cool gadgets and lots of cool robots and better computer games!
Alex, 12, Wokingham

I don't think it will be different because apparently in 1960, they said by 2001 everybody will have a flying car but we don't.
Alex, 12, London

I think 2020 will just be like it is now, but with better gadgets.
Emma, 14, West Yorkshire

Technology will be super in 2020! Robots doing all your homework, moveable chairs and robots doing your chores - I wouldn't imagine anyone not enjoying themselves!
Nicole, 11, Perth

Nothing much will happen apart from us damaging our Earth. Scientists should work on global warming, not Samsung D500's.
Cara, 11, London

Not much may happen by 2020 but in 100-200 years time alot would have changed! In 2020 they'll just be better TVs, DVDs, phones and new ways of listening to music.
David, 13, Cardiff

I think by 2020, there will be an improvement in transportation in Africa.

Patience, 15, Malawi

Apparently, by 2009 you could get from the countryside to London in under two minutes by these cool pod things! They would only need a landing strip 120m long. WOW! I'd want to travel in one of those!
Immy, 12, Tunbridge Wells

Immy, 12, Tunbridge Wells

I don't think there will be robots as teachers or anything. And if there was, that would mean a huge mass of unemployed poeple.
Harriet, 13, Taunton

I think that the future will be very exciting because their will probably be some groovy gadgets and some wacky machines.
George, 7, Wolverhampton

You will have a chip inside your head when you are born so that you already know everything and you won't have to go school!
Sophie, 9, Brigend

I don't think anything else useful will be invented - only useless things like new types of phone.
Catriona, 11, Glasgow

I don't think it will be much different. Technology will eventually come to a standstill. They're even running out of new inventions!
Lucy, 14, Newcastle

I think by the year 2020, humans will have wrecked the earth with inventions like cars, airplanes and other things that use fuel. I personally think that the inventors should create solar panel cars so there won't be an increase in global warming.
Craig, 13, UK

I think that mobile phones will include everything, like cameras, video and maybe really high tech stuff like holograms! And robot pets would be cool because they would actually listen when you told them to do something
Becky, 10, Bristol

I don't think things will be any different because people always used to think that the year 2000 would have big changes like flying cars... but it didn't happen!
Fiona, 12, Glasgow

To be perfectly honest, I don't think technology will change dramatically. I don't think we will have robots as teachers or anything like that because they have no feelings or emotions.
Rebecca, 14, Essex

I think we will be flying supersonic again and Boeing will have brand new planes that are bigger than the airport!
John, 13, Barra

I don't think there will be flying cars and robots that do your homework. That might happen in 3020 but 2020 is too soon. I don't think things will have changed that much.
Vicky, 14, Peterborough

I think we will be flying all over the world in our own cars so if you're from Holland, you'll be in New York in a few minutes. Isn't that an idea? :P
Stephanie, 15, Netherlands

I don't think it will be that different. There might be a few more discreet things like better computer systems and stuff like that, but otherwise I think it will be the same. In the 50s, people thought that in 2000 we would all have jet packs... I see NO jet packs lol.
Beth, 12, Reading

People in 2020 will be able to have journeys in outer space. It would be very exciting and fantastic!!!!
Kenny, 13, Hong Kong

I think technology will go too far. It's alright saying that we can just sit back and relax while robots do all the work but we will all soon get bored, we won't need to go to school because robots will do everything for us. I like the old ways the best.
Michelle, 14, Huddersfield

Man! There's gonna be flying cars and electric umbrellas!
Thomas, 10, Essex

I think mobile phones will be the size of a credit card, and it will have internet access, games, tv and a 100gb memory!!
Hannah, 12, Bristol

I think there will be flying cars just like in cartoons and robots will rule the earth!
Daniel, 9, Leeds
