Premiership: Rovers shock Man Utd

Gamst Pedersen celebrates
Blackburn Rovers have stunned Manchester United with a surprise 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford.

A first-half goal from Gamst Pedersen put the visitors ahead, and Ruud van Nistelrooy quickly levelled.

But a mistake by Paul Scholes gave Michael Gray possession of the ball and he slammed home the winner.

At Stamford Bridge Luke Moore became the first player to score against Chelsea this season, although Aston Villa still lost to the champions 2-1.

Two goals from Frank Lampard kept the Blues' 100% winning record intact.

Everton defeat

Also in the competition, Everton suffered a miserable 1-0 defeat to Premiership newcomers Wigan.

Damien Francis scored in the 47th minute, but although Everton came close Wigan took the points.

In another home defeat, Charlton beat West Brom 2-1.

Two early goals from Danny Murphy overpowered West Brom's flat performance.
