Abbey School in Kent has been carrying out random drug tests since the beginning of the year. The students are selected at random but both the pupil and their parents have to agree to the test.
Having agreed to take the test the first thing Daniel has to do is choose a kit to be tested with. He then has to put two special pieces of plastic, called swabs in his mouth.

After two minutes he can remove the swabs which look like plastic cotton buds.

It is very important that the swabs stays sterile so the tester wears rubber gloves and the student is in charge of putting the samples into the container that is sent off for testing.

Daniel thinks the tests are a great idea and pupils shouldn't be scared.
