Nintendo reveal new-style joypad

Nintendo Revolution controller
Nintendo has revealed the new-style controller it hopes will help its new Revolution console fly off the shelves.

It looks more like a remote control than a traditional controller and works in a very different way too.

You only need one hand to use it and can control what happens on screen by holding onto it and moving your hand around, instead of using a joystick.

The Revolution isn't the only new console on the way, with Sony and Microsoft working on new machines too.

The Revolution should be in shops in 2006, probably after the PlayStation 3 launches, with the Xbox 360 on sale in the US on 22 November this year.

The controllers will come in different colours and are wireless
It's thought the Revolution's new controller could be used like a racquet in tennis games, or as a sword in some fantasy games.

Nintendo bosses hope the controller will persuade new people to start playing games who may have thought they weren't for them.

But even though we know how the controller works and what the Revolution looks like, Nintendo haven't said what sort of hardware will be inside it yet.
